VisPod™ Sensor
The VisPod measures horizontal visibility and present weather (rain, sleet, snow). Visibility can be measured up to 7 miles distant from the pod system. Once every reporting cycle (typically every 15 minutes) the VisPod wakes up, makes a one minute average reading, and reports this data back home via the
SatPod™ or a PC in the field.
The reporting rate can be adjusted by the end-user from once every 5 minutes to once every 24 hours. Batteries and solar panels are sized based on a 15-minute measurement/reporting rate. At a 15-minute cycle, the VisPod will operate for 30 days on internal batteries like the other sensor pods already incorporated into the system (WeatherPod™, SatPod™, CloudPod™).
ADSS’s VisPod™ System provides critical visibility data to airport, highway, military, research and meteorological weather information systems all over the world.
The VisPod is a stand-alone sensor pod which does not require the use of a CloudPod™ or any other external device. The VisPod comes complete with its own batteries, power management circuitry, solar panel, AC adaptor, optional communication cable and line-of-sight radio modem.
